Marla Hirshman Norton is a director at Bayard. She concentrates her practice on alternative business entities, corporate governance, and third party legal opinions. Marla has over twenty (20) years of experience in a variety of corporate and commercial transactions, including securitization transactions, corporate formation and governance, mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiation and drafting and secured lending.
Marla is a member of the firm’s technology committee. She also serves as the firm’s primary contact for Meritas®, one of the world’s largest organizations of independent business and commercial law firms of which Bayard is the exclusive Delaware member.
As a member of the American Bar Association, Marla participates in the Business Law Section and serves on the Partnership and Unincorporated Business Organizations Committee and the Legal Opinions Committee and is a member of the Forum on Franchising. She is the Co-Chair of the ABA Subcommittee on Business Trusts. Marla is a contributor to the efforts of the Commercial Law, Corporation Law and Intellectual Property Law Sections of the Delaware State Bar Association, and is active on the Delaware State Bar Association’s Partnership and LLC Committee and the Statutory Trust Committee.
Marla is a former officer and former Board member of the Delaware Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners. In addition, Marla serves as First Vice President and Board Member for Temple Beth El in Newark, Delaware. Marla was named as a “Top Lawyer” in 2001 in the area of corporate law based on a survey of the Delaware State Bar Association published by Delaware Today magazine. Marla was also recently named as a Delaware Super Lawyer for 2007 in the field of business/corporate law in the June 2007 issue of Philadelphia Magazine.
Marla frequently lectures on topics including choice of business entity and buying and selling businesses. She offers a vast array of business and financial transactional experience and knowledge to her clients and the Firm.
