Richard (Dick) D. Kirk is a director at Bayard. His practice focuses on general business litigation, intellectual property litigation, environmental litigation and counseling, and alternative dispute resolution.

After graduating from law school, Dick clerked for Justice William Duffy of the Delaware Supreme Court, one of the founding members of what is now Bayard. Dick subsequently served as a Deputy Attorney General assigned as full-time counsel to the State Board of Education.

Dick previously served as President of the Delaware State Bar Association from 1993-1994. He was founding Chair of the Delaware State Bar’s Environmental Law Section and is the current Chair of both the bar association's Intellectual Property Section and the Committee on Response to Public Comment.

Dick is a member of the Delaware District Court Rules Advisory Committee and the Delaware Supreme Court’s Standing Committee on Professionalism. He is a member of the board of directors of the Delaware Bar Foundation. Dick recently completed a five-year term as chair of the Delaware Supreme Court’s Commission on Continuing Legal Education, and seven years as president of the board of directors of Delaware Volunteer Legal Services.

Dick has been listed in “The Best Lawyers in America” (The Best Lawyers of America®. Copyright 2005 Woodward/White, Inc., Aiken, SC), under environmental law for the past ten years.
